Clinical practice spans diagnosis, treatment planning and long-term follow-up. Tests and procedures are considered according to individual needs, expected benefit and scientific evidence, with decisions made together with the patient.
Coronary artery disease and interventions
Assessment with coronary CT angiography and invasive coronary angiography; coronary interventions for acute and chronic coronary artery disease, treatment of chronic total occlusions (CTO) and complex coronary lesions, and follow-up after procedures.
Preventive cardiology
Assessment of cardiovascular risk; management of high blood pressure (hypertension) and elevated blood lipids (hyperlipidemia), ambulatory blood pressure monitoring, lifestyle changes and individualised follow-up.
Echocardiography and heart valve disease
Assessment with cardiac ultrasound (echocardiography); evaluation of heart structure, function and valve disease, treatment planning and follow-up.
Heart failure
Diagnosis of heart failure, individualised treatment planning and regular follow-up; evaluation of symptoms, heart function and response to treatment together.
Heart rhythm disorders and fainting
Diagnosis, treatment and follow-up of heart rhythm disorders (arrhythmias); ECG and portable heart rhythm recording (Holter monitoring), tilt-table testing for fainting, and planning of further assessment when needed.
Vascular and peripheral artery disease
Cardiological assessment, risk factor management and treatment follow-up for vascular disease, particularly disease of the arteries supplying areas outside the heart, such as the legs (peripheral artery disease).
A TEAM APPROACH IN OUR DEPARTMENT
Shared expertise, shared decisions
Every decision about heart health deserves the contribution of different experiences and perspectives. In the Department of Cardiology at Yeditepe University Faculty of Medicine, teamwork and consultation among colleagues underpin everyday clinical practice. Diagnostic and treatment decisions are shaped by this culture of shared assessment, taking scientific evidence and patient preferences into account.
Advanced assessments and interventional treatments are also planned together with team members experienced in the relevant fields.
Congenital and structural heart disease, catheter-based (percutaneous) treatments for heart valve disease, pacemaker implantation, assessment of the heart’s electrical system (electrophysiology study), advanced rhythm assessment and cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (cardiac MRI) are addressed within this shared approach.
